Help Support Dez as She Fights Breast Cancer (Again).

HI everyone, Jolene here. As many of you know, our beautiful and strong friend Dez is facing something no one ever wants to face—she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time - stage 3 this time.

While we have full faith that God will carry her through this again, we also know that the emotional and financial toll of cancer is overwhelming. That’s why we’re creating this GoFundMe—to offer Dez some financial peace of mind during this incredibly tough time.

Dez worked at a local bank, but what so many of us know and love her for is her amazing baking business: Endless Treatz by Dabs (And yes, she is as sweet as her treats are lol).

Unfortunately, during her chemo treatment, Dez will be unable to work—both at the bank and in her baking business. This fundraiser is here to help cover day-to-day expenses, medical bills, and anything else that might come her way while she focuses on healing.

Although this is a tough time for Dez, she has the full support of her devoted husband and loved ones beside her. Below is a letter her 17-year-old daughter, Jordan, wanted to share in her own words— she is very loved.

To start off, thank you for taking the time to read this and getting to know and help my mom, Desiree. As she isn’t one to ask for help, but one to give help, I have to constantly remind her that she is human and just as deserving of it as everyone else is. To give a better/deeper insight on the situation as to what & who this GoFundMe is for, this GoFundMe is for my mom, Desiree. Three years ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. A few weeks after her diagnosis, exactly 28 days later, she got news that her sister also had breast cancer. During this hard time, she didn’t hesitate to make sure not only her sister was okay, but everyone around her, including our family. She put her own things aside and showed up for everyone despite fighting her own battles both physically and mentally.

A few years back, she had lost her job due to a back injury, which she then later on became determined to start her own business and give her all to what she loved doing, baking. Baking became her passion, something she loved doing. She constantly put in countless hours to teach herself and learn all these things in the baking world, making beautiful art that wasn’t just edible and delicious, but also beautiful and showed her hard work.

As she continued her baking journey and learning all these things, she was also learning things about herself that were heartbreaking and difficult. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, everything changed and with all the traveling she was doing for her treatments and appointments, this put some strain on her business. Even through all her hardships and challenges, she pushed through and continued to do what she loved, while also giving to those around her even when she had nothing left to give.

Seeing my mom continue to give, give, give, was hard as her daughter because not everyone sees what goes on behind the scenes and how much cancer really does take a toll on someone.

Leading up to this point, I’ve thought my mom would be okay and she had finally beat breast cancer, and praying to god and hoping it wouldn’t come back. In this case, that isn’t what happened. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer again, this time in her other breast. This time hit a lot harder than the last, as last time it was caught early and I had more hope, with my mom being so strong and it being early. Now this time, there’s been more to it, involving Chemotherapy. And even through it all, she continues to see the good in it and know that God has her back, and not only God but her family.

Knowing how hard it is on my mom, wondering why her and why again, it’s all came to this moment where we ask for your help. Though not everyone may donate, we do ask that you at least share this to those you know and those you don’t. To everyone going through the same thing, something similar, know you aren’t alone and there are people out there who also wanna know YOUR story, just as you’re getting to know Desiree’s now. Let this be a reminder to my mom, and anyone going through the same, that there IS a village behind them that is rooting for them and WANT them to know, it’s okay to not be okay. And to my mom- You are not alone. You are strong, deserving, badass, and on top of that, an amazing mother, wife, sister, gramma, auntie, all the above. You will beat this again and come out even stronger.
