THIS is our amazing friend Shelly and she’s starting treatment for breast cancer. We’re raising funds to offset the mounting costs of care and all that comes with it, we’d love your help! If you haven’t already met Shelly, or you have and you’re down to hear more about your awesome friend, please read on for her amazing story and how you can be part of it.

 

Shelly has powers: she is a single mom of a teenage boy and adorable 8 year old girl, crushes it as an accountant at the beer factory, bikes around the city she grew up in, ensures two family dogs play nice in a small home, manages that home, makes time for her family and friends, shows up and throws down for justice in her community.

 

Shelly has strength: she navigated losing two parents, is raising a child with Prader Willi and plenty of special care needs, managed a divorce, took on educating herself in accounting, and helps support a brother with an aggressive form of cancer.

 

Shelly also has style, has humor, has wisdom, has a revolutionary spirit…

 

...and NOW Shelly has breast cancer, and Shelly has necessities: a double mastectomy, to leave work for more than a month, care for her kids, manage meds, house her two dogs, pay her deductible, and most importantly, have the space to heal. Some of these needs will take more than money – but those that DO take money, add up to $15,000.

 

The deductible is $7,500 and there are copays after that. Her healing regimen comes to $1,500. Housing both dogs while she recovers is $3,000. As we know, additional costs arise.
