Sergiu was 26 when his life took a turn he never could have imagined.

An engineer by training, he had done everything right. He graduated in Naval Architecture from the University of Galați, then went on to complete his master’s degree in Bucharest at the top of his class, earning honors and recognition. He had plans, momentum, and the kind of future that felt certain.

Then, about a year ago, everything changed.

He was diagnosed with classical Hodgkin lymphoma, nodular sclerosis, stage II B. What followed was a relentless fight: months of chemotherapy—six cycles of ABVD, then two more of a harsher protocol called IGEV. Each treatment was endured with determination, with the simple goal of staying alive.

But the disease didn’t stop.

Despite everything, the cancer continued to progress. Scans and a biopsy in early 2026 confirmed what no one wants to hear: the standard treatments had failed.

Now, Sergiu is facing his last viable option—immunotherapy, using advanced drugs like Brentuximab Vedotin and Nivolumab, followed by a bone marrow transplant. It’s a path that offers real hope.

But there’s a problem. This treatment isn’t available in Romania.

A clinic in Vienna has given him a concrete plan, but the cost is overwhelming—around €167,000 just for the immunotherapy phase, with the transplant to be calculated separately. For someone who has always relied on his own work and strength, asking for help has become the hardest step of all.

He doesn’t want to fight alone anymore—because he can’t.
