Hi my name is Joan and I have organised this page to raise some money for my eldest niece Sarah while she takes on her second diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer. Sarah this time around has been very private in sharing this diagnosis, after talking to Sarah she acknowledged it was time for help, to lighten the stress of such a diagnosis but also be Mum of a ten year old. All money raised will go directly into Sarah’s account.Below is Sarah’s story in her words .

Hi I am Sarah. My Aunty Joan has set this up for me as a way to support me while I navigate my new diagnosis. I work at a local school and am a single Mum to T. This is my second diagnosis of triple negative Breast Cancer. The impact of treatment is more than the side effects which include exhaustion, suppressed immune system and stomach issues, it also means limiting activities with big groups or indoors to avoid getting sick and prolonging my treatment. I am having chemotherapy which will hopefully be finished by June,all things going well. As well as immunotherapy which I will have for the next two years.

Immunotherapy boosts my immune system to fight the cancer but can also create issues with my thyroid and other organs. I am currently unable to work in my role as a wellbeing leader at a local school due to risk of illness.

Unfortunately there are not many avenues for financial support as I do not qualify for NDIS or NDIA. Any money raised will be put towards some of the financial burden of treatment from paying for petrol and parking during treatment, to topping up my rent. It will also give me access to other supports such as counselling and physio for some of the side effects of my treatment, as well as easing the pressure so I can spend some quality time with my son
