Let's help Rian, Chris, Maggie & Gus

Let's help Chris Johnson, Rian Lougheed-Smith, their daughter Maggie, and new born son August (Gus)!
They are all safe and sound. A week ago they had a terrifying fire, one of their outbuildings caught fire. Rian was home alone with the new baby (August/Gus) and by the time she saw it there was no putting it out. The biggest worry at that point was that it would spread to their shop, which is basically an extension of their small home, and houses their solar system/batteries, Chris’ office, and many other important things. Losing the shop would be devastating, losing the shed is a blow but they feel they can come back from it with our help.
In their shed, they lost:
- All their firewood, axes & splitting maul
- Three seasons of outdoor gear including Sports/Rec gear like skis, Maggie's bike, sliding sleds, our snowshoes, chariot stroller, snowboard, trampoline, tents camping stoves and all other camping gear, backpacks, luggage
- Canoe gear, that they use daily for commuting in the summer. Life jackets, paddles, throw bags
- Farm equipment: chicken waterers and feeders, equipment for raising chicks, all of our electric fencing, moveable poultry fencing, solar fence chargers, pumps
- Tools/construction materials: plumbing tools, propane installation tools, construction/building materials, fasteners, lumber, rope, ratchet straps
- Drip irrigation system, hoes & all garden hand tools, commercial walk behind seeder, all seed trays and shelving for seed starting
- Wood cook stove that was going to be installed in their house
- Appliances - 2nd hand propane fridge, 2nd hand propane stove for installation in their new farm kitchen, 2nd hand sink, air conditioner
- Two generators
- Some sentimental items that will never be able to be replaced
They feel lucky that they’re all okay and that it wasn't worse- many of these things aren't urgent to replace, but being able to replace a few things would be immensely helpful (They have a 7 year old who's very upset to have lost her bike, snowshoes and trampoline).
They often have a hard time asking for help, but so many of our friends have reached out to ask if they can help- Thank you!!
They are incredibly grateful for their neighbours and the Klondike Valley Fire Department who responded so quickly, on foot (!!). Their message to wood burners - be careful - this fire was started by ashes that they cleaned out of a wood stove THREE DAYS before the fire. They sat outside for THREE DAYS and when Chris emptied them into a larger bin bear the shed they got aerated and a few hours later the structure was gone.
