On February 20th our brother and friend Phillip Houdhan suffered a series of small strokes followed by a massive heart attack. As we all know, this was a significant life and death crisis and he is lucky to have life after that experience. That is not where the story ends.
After being taken to the regional hospital, he was transferred to a heart specific institution where it was revealed that he had several blocked arteries and would require 7 stents or open heart surgery. The medical team along with his family determined that the open heart option would provide the best outcome and they proceeded with the surgery. Soon after the surgery was completed, he started to develop complications, flatlined and had to be rushed back into surgery. This was the second time that our brother could have been taken from us. He had to remain intubated for several days before the medical team felt he was strong enough to breathe on his own. Finally, the tube was removed and I am happy to report that he has been breathing on his own and has begun his long and winding road to recovery.
This experience has not only altered Phillip’s life (and everyone else around him), including his son Nicholas, it has also depleted his savings. What we know for sure is, this is the beginning of a lengthy rehabilitation and recovery, complicated further by the financial weight of his postoperative requirements. What we also know is that financial stress can impact his complete and successful recovery because Phillip worries - a lot.
We set up this Go-Fund Me page to ensure Phillip does not have to concern himself with how he pays for a chance to fully recuperate and consider this second chance at life. His inherent generous nature reminds us of how much he values our friendships and we can reciprocate our friendship to him by easing his financial burden at this important time in his life. One hundred percent (100%) of your donations will be put towards Phillip’s recovery which includes paying off outstanding balances for hospitalization and multiple surgeries, follow up appointments, transportation, medications and rehabilitation. Please contribute in ways large and small for a cause we can all get behind.
Thank you very much in advance for your generous spirit.
