Let's help Pete communicate again

Hello to you fine folks back in the U.K.
Pete Stevenson, or Purple Pete as many people know him, went through a series of events that has ended up with him having what's called locked in syndrome.
So to cut a long story short, Pete is in acare home, without any means to communicate other than the movement of his eyes.
I visited Pete, and had a strong sense that Pete was still with us. So after I returned to The Azores, David Maskell and I arranged a what's app call that showed Pete responding to a few questions.
This proved Pete could benefit from Eye Gaze Software — technology that lets people operate a computer just by moving their eyes. We sent a video to the company that makes this equipment, Smart Box, and that led to a trial — which has just been completed.
Pete responded well to this trial, so now we need to buy the equipment.
The equipment costs around 12,400 pounds, but that's just the beginning. If Pete continues to improve, and we all know what a strong, wilful individual he can be, we can then ask for him to be included in more trials that can allow him to be a part of the new revolution we can see happening all around us.
So give what you can.
Or at least pay Pete a visit as we're starting to get a group of old friends who are visiting or helping out, such as Ady Clarke who helped with the trial equipment. He's in Reading so no need to go too far, just get in contact with us and we'll tell you how to visit him.
But fundamentally, Pete needs to know he's not forgotten.
And I'll see you when I pop home for a visit later this year, but meanwhile let's keep some faith, that with our help, everything will be fine and let's show that we still know what friends are for.
