Let's help out our friends Devin and Brittany!

Hello friends!

This week, my dear friend and trusted colleague here at the Bellas Artes School of Music, Devin Starr, shared with me that his wife Brittany was going to have to have an emergency surgery this Friday [please see more details below]. He was just asking for prayer, both for her health most importantly, but also for the dire challenge this turn of events posed for their family... that insurance would not cover this.

So, in short, Devin and Brittany are facing bills that will probably total $25,000. Devin did not ask for this or even hint at it, but I think this is something we could all help the Starr family with. In much the way the Amish community will come together to raise a barn together in just one day for a family whose barn has burned down, I think we could come together to make all the difference for our friends this Christmas season!

I asked Devin if he would be ok with me launching this, and he was most grateful. Please do keep Brittany in your prayers. As I type, she is about to go into surgery in 45 minutes. Pray for complete healing, for guidance for the doctors, and for strength/endurance during the recovery.

Whatever is in your heart to give, I know it will make a huge difference to this beautiful family. Thank you so much!

So, let's grab our tools, get some lumber, and get to work!

PS More details about what happened:

Brittany had her wisdom teeth removed this year, with two separate surgeries. Unfortunately, the service providers were completely unprofessional and actually botched the last surgery.

Due to severe jaw pain, Brittany recently met with an oral surgeon's technician to get an X-ray and CT scan of her jaw - the results were much worse than initially expected. Her jawbone was severely fractured all the way through, a bad jawbone infection was also discovered, and the jawbone had been shifting over the course of the month, causing increasing pain.

Brittany will need open surgery that will wire her mouth shut and cause her jawbone to fuse together. Unfortunately, the cost for this surgery is not covered by insurance, so Brittany and her husband, Devin, will be paying for her care entirely out of pocket. The cost of all surgeries and appointments combined and the necessary imaging to follow could reach upward of $25,000. Brittany will have a minimum of six weeks for recovery. After she has entirely healed from this maxillomandibular fixation jawbone surgery, she will need a second surgery to remove the metal wiring.

Please do keep Brittany in your prayers for a quick and thorough recovery from her first surgery, which was Friday December 8th. And keep both Devin and Brittany and their boys in your prayers as they face a challenging six or more weeks of recovery, most or all of which she will not be able to open her mouth to eat or speak.

Thank you so much for standing with us with the Starr family!

Blessings this Advent Season!!
