Hello, I’m Heather, and Beth is a very dear friend of mine that I met in 2017 while we both were advocating for medical cannabis in Pennsylvania. Something told me right away that we would end up being very good friends! Our quirky personalities just clicked. Beth’s passion to help others is like no other, she has proven that time and time again in the time that we have been friends and from what I have learned from her stories of the past and from others, her entire life! It’s time to help Beth in her time of need!
It’s not something she is comfortable with at all, accepting help from others, but I told her she needs to suck it up because SO many people care about her, SO many people want to give back to her as she gave to them, SO many people want to see her succeed, SO many people KNOW that she has SO MUCH MORE to offer, and SO many people want to see her kick cancer’s a**!
On Thursday, January 30th, Beth walked into her doctor’s appointment with some amazingly awesome long-time friends by her side, and learned that she has Stage 4 Cancer ~ Adenocarcinoma.
Her specialist at the Hillman Cancer Center told her,
if she decides not to get treatment, she will have weeks to live. But if she chooses treatment, she has a chance! He went as far to say that he thinks they can cure it (this comment right here is all she needed to hear!)
A diagnosis that could knock the wind out of you, right?! There’s one thing I’ve learned about Beth, well lots of things, but number one ~ if you tell her she has a fighting chance, you can bet on it that she’s going to fight!
For instance, Beth moved to Florida for several years. She moved into an apartment and purchased everything new, from dishes, to furniture, to bedding, and more ~ a fresh start! She absolutely loved it and deserved it! Sunshine & warm weather are her jam. She came back to the ‘Burgh to visit in summer 2024, only to arrive back at her apartment a week later to find her entire apartment visibly full of toxic mold. Long story short, mold specialists went into the apartment and tagged anything that had mold on it ~ absolutely everything was tagged! The bedroom was the worst. The room that she spent the majority of her time in, breathing in that toxic air. She lost absolutely everything ~ with the exception of a pair of purple tennis shoes she purchased to wear at an epilepsy fundraiser (can’t even make this up!).
What did she do? Well, I can say, she did not give up! Devasting, yes! She is still dealing with the losses and working to rebuild her life from this. But she tightened up her sneakers and started putting one foot in front of the other.
Beth has a strong faith and this, along with support from family, friends, and acquaintances, she will have the strength to fight this!
SHE NEEDS OUR HELP.
She moved back to Pittsburgh and is surrounded by friends and family that give her strength by remaining positive.
In Beth’s positive attitude and quirky humor fashion, she named the extremely large tumor in her lung, Stella.
Beth is going to need our help. She’s still rebuilding from her losses in Florida. She’s still getting her feet back on the ground. The last thing she needs to worry about is how she is going to find the funds to pay for everything.
Let’s help her start fresh again! Let’s help her with her living expenses and most importantly the expenses needed to get her through the medical treatment necessary to beat and cure this cancer!
