Organiser: Lesa Powell co-founder of GuavaTreeMedia & Jamaican Foods and Recipes
Hurricane Melissa has left Jamaica in heartbreak. Our beautiful island—known for its vibrant culture, lush hills, and warm-hearted people—has been devastated. Entire communities have been flattened, roads washed away, and countless families are now without homes, food, or clean water.
My name is Lesa Powell, co-founder of GuavaTreeMedia and Jamaican Foods and Recipes. As a proud Jamaican, it breaks my heart to see the widespread destruction Hurricane Melissa has caused. Many families have lost everything—houses reduced to rubble, farmlands destroyed, and basic necessities are now out of reach.
We are raising funds to provide urgent food and clean water to affected communities and to help families begin to rebuild their homes and lives. Every donation—big or small—will go directly toward relief efforts on the ground: purchasing food supplies, bottled water, building materials, and supporting local recovery initiatives.
Our goal is to raise enough money to make a meaningful impact for those who need it most—especially families with children, the elderly, and those who have no other means to start over.
To maintain transparency and keep our supporters connected, we will be creating a private Facebook group for all donors. In this space, we’ll share regular updates, photos, and videos showing exactly how your donations are being used to help the victims of Hurricane Melissa rebuild their lives.
This is a moment for unity, compassion, and action. Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.
Please, help us bring hope back to Jamaica.
Donate, share, and stand with us as we work to rebuild together.
