The world can feel overwhelming these days, and while we might not be able to fix everything, we can take care of those in our bubble. That’s why I’m asking for your help supporting Sarah and her beloved pug, Oreo. Oreo is only three years old and recently diagnosed with a liposarcoma, a more aggressive type of soft tissue sarcoma. These tumors are rare but serious — about 20% of them metastasize and spread to the lungs or lymph nodes. Oreo is scheduled for surgery on Monday, and while we’re hopeful the entire tumor can be removed, there’s a real possibility it has already invaded surrounding tissue. If that’s the case, Oreo will need radiation therapy — 3 to 5 rounds — to stop the cancer from spreading. Each treatment costs $3,000, in part because Oreo needs to be sedated every time. That’s up to $15,000 in medical bills for a young pup who still has so much life and love ahead of her. Sarah is doing everything she can, but this kind of financial hit is devastating. Oreo isn’t just a pet — she’s Sarah’s emotional support, her shadow, and her heart. We can’t let her face this alone.
