Hello Everyone,

HELP OMO SETTLE

It hurts deeply to write or talk about Omo and her family this way.

Monday, August 14, 2023 will forever remain a day to be remembered in the lives of Omo, her four kids and those of us who were at the airport to see her and her kids being deported from Canada to Nigeria after a long, financially and emotionally draining legal battle to change their status from refugees to Permanent Residents.

On November 20, 2014, Omo and her then four dependent kids entered Canada on temporary residents visas.
Omo is a Nigerian trained ophthalmologist who was doing well in her field . However, the desire to provide quality life for her kids informed her decision to migrate.
They applied for refugee protection and Thus , begun the financially draining battle to obtain their permanent resident status.
This journey has financially and emotionally drained this family as they had to dispose of all their assets in Nigeria to be able to afford legal fees which amounted to over $40,000.
We were hopeful they would come out victorious but sadly, August 14 saw them embark on the journey to Nigeria after almost ten years in Canada .
A lot of sacrifices have been made. Her oldest son has been working to support the family sacrificing his own educational advancement for his younger ones. The family had to pay international school fees to fund the university edication. This in additions to legal fee impacted any savings the family had.

This family is going back with and to nothing. The current level of hardship in Nigeria is overwhelming and we hope that we can, with your contributions help this family to settle while they try to find their feet. The money realized will be used to rent accommodation, get the kids in school, help omo integrate into the system.
Omo is a loyal friend who is much-beloved by all who know her. This story is one of a woman who fought with all she had .Every donation made will be a source of hope to this family.
