Vet & Teacher Mom Needs Help for Child’s Tuition

Hello! My name is Mimi and I am raising funds to be able to pay for my daughter, Nubiya's college tuition and fees. I am an Army veteran, a teacher, and a single mother. I have given everything I could to be able to support my daughter in pursuing her education. She graduated with honors (3.66 GPA), completed over 100 community service hours, and was a member of the National Honor Society. With so many applications being sent out in the hopes of receiving scholarships, nothing has come back in Nubiya's favor.

Sadly, her school has not provided her with sufficient funding, even though the EFC (expected family contribution) was listed as $1,588. I have given my career to supporting students but, unfortunately, it would seem that I am unable to support my own child's dreams of obtaining higher education. I am still overburdened with school loans to pay off and cannot be approved for loans with my low salary. Otherwise, I would gladly take on the loans to support her education.

We have accepted the small amount in loans and grants that were offered in Nubiya's financial aid package. Additionally, I appealed to the school in the hopes of getting them to increase her financial aid since the school has only provided an aid package of $13,045 and the EFC is extremely low based on my salary. Despite the school being fully aware that her aid package does not comply with filling the gap between her tuition and fees and the FAFSA's established EFC, the school has refused to increase her aid package. And, the amount of financial aid awarded remains to be vastly insufficient to provide what Nubiya needs to attend school.

Nubiya has worked very hard to graduate with good grades and do everything right in the process. Please help me be able to send her to college so that she may be able to follow her dreams. Thank you so very much.
