Today, I come to you with the saddest thing I’ve ever had to write and I’m having a very difficult time finding the words to say it while I type with my eyes full of tears.
Last week, my 32 year old son Nicholas who is a chef and musician, called his Mom to let her know he was in the hospital in Oakland, CA where he lives. He held off for 2 weeks without seeking medical attention thinking whatever it was, would pass. He contracted a bacterial infection but he continued to think he’d heal up while in the hospital until he realized he was very sick and by this point, having organ failure so he didn’t call us until after being there a week. He’s now been in there for 16-17 days. I’d like to request that no matter how far this message makes it, please honor Nick’s and our family’s wishes to PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CONTACT HIM. He’s in very serious condition and doesn’t need the added stress right now and on top of that Nicholas has always liked to keep his personal life to himself.
He had been on a floor/unit that’s below ICU care but has now been moved to ICU 2 days ago. They started dialysis last night and are continuing it for the next 2 days. They have stabilized him for now but any minor setback could be life threatening. This is going to be a long road to recovery as they have put him on an emergency liver transplant list and hoping to have this expedited and have the procedure done within the next couple of weeks.
I’d like to ask everyone to please put my boy in your prayers as well as our family. With this said, I am opening a GoFundMe for him to help with bills, he’s also got to prove he will have the financial needs to continue meds after his transplant due to the criticality of it all. Additionally, his gf, Erica Valencia, has been by his side day and night since he was admitted and we need to provide her some help as well as neither of them have worked in over 2 weeks.
Please keep in mind, I’m not doing this for a customer, a friend or a stranger I’m just wanting to help. THIS IS MY SON AND I DONT WANT TO LOSE HIM. Thank you all in advance for the prayers and any donations you can provide.
