On the night of June 29th, my mom and brother were involved in a serious hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Hwy 67 South and Old England Road, near the gas station that's currently being torn down and R&R Propane, between 10:00 and 10:30 PM.
They were traveling south on Hwy 67 with a green light, when a black vehicle ran a red light, turning right off Old England Road onto Hwy 67. My mom tried to quickly move into the left lane to avoid being hit but couldn’t—there was oncoming traffic in that lane. The black vehicle slammed into them, tipping her car up onto the driver’s side. In that terrifying moment, it truly felt like the car was about to roll. But by nothing short of a miracle, the car jolted back down onto its wheels.
The driver of the other vehicle sped off, leaving the scene. They had no rear license plate and have yet to be identified.
This car was my mom’s only form of transportation. She lives on a fixed income and disability and cannot afford to replace it. This vehicle was not just a car — it was her independence.
We are so grateful that my mom and brother walked away from this accident alive. But now we are faced with the reality of not having a vehicle — something that is absolutely essential for daily life, medical appointments, and basic needs.
If you can find it in your heart to help, whether through donating or sharing this, it would mean the world to our family. Every little bit helps, and we are beyond grateful for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
