Lets Help Ms. April Dance in the Storm!

Hi! My name is April Bradshaw and today I'm reaching out, asking for the amazing community of Rockport to come together to help one of our own - Ms. April Hobson.

Ms. April is a beloved member of the Rockport community, attends Hope Church and is the owner of Rockport Coastal Dance Academy and works with over 140+ local youth each week. Through dance she pours into our kids, mentoring them while building self-esteem, confidence & teamwork. Now it is our turn to pour into her life.

On Jan. 11th Ms. April was taken by ambulance to Corpus Christi Medical Center Heart Hospital, Doctor's Regional, with chest pain. During an angioplasty, they found she had several major blockages, including a 90%+ block in her LAD - more commonly known as the Widow Maker. It was a devastating diagnosis and completely unexpected. They also discovered she had already experienced 2 Stemi heart attacks that week which were leading up to a major Widow Maker Heart Attack which has only a 2% survival rate. But God had other plans! It was truly a miracle they found this in time. The next day she was rushed to emergency open heart surgery.

Ms. April went to ICU for several days following surgery and was then moved to the cardiac floor before being released after 12 days. She went home on her birthday to start a very long, painful and difficult recovery. She went through 6 weeks of being unable to use her arms or lift and is still sleeping sitting in a recliner, 7 weeks after surgry.

With friends, weekly physical therapy and lots of prayers she is recovering and doing better - but she has a long way to go. It will be several weeks before she is released for any "desk duty" type of work, 6 months before she can try dancing or teaching again, and a year for a full recovery and full activity. They have also just discovered a significant heart murmur during one of her follow-up appointments that will also have to be addressed once she is healed.

Ms. April has given so much to our local children - Now it's our turn to be there for her during this time of need. Being unable to work for several months has taken a major toll on her financially and any amount is greatly appreciated. Let's come together and show how strong Rockport can be...
