Lets help Meilita

Mama, kadaise tu jau mokei mane žengti pirmą žingsnelį, kadaise tu išmokei paimti ir pirmą šaukštelį…              

Mama, sakyk, kas atsitiko?  Kodėl laimė mane netikėtai paliko?                                          

Kalėdos - stebuklų metas, todėl ir vėl norime paprašyti tautiečius susiburti bendram stebuklui. Kreipiamės į visus geros valios žmones, padėti sunkios ligos užkluptai Meilitai susigrąžinti gyvenimo džiaugsmą. Prieš metus mūsų bendruomenės šeimą ištiko didžiulė nelaimė, jų dukrą netikėtai ištiko stuburo insultas, labai reta liga, su kuria kovoti tebesimoko pati medicina. Tačiau Meilitos tėvelių pastangomis ir jos pačios begaline valia ir noru pasveikti buvo pasiekta apčiuopiamų rezultatų. Meilita jau gali prilaikoma pastovėti! Daugeliui iš mūsų toks įprastas veiksmas vos ne metus mergaitei atrodė neįmanomas!

Atrodo, vilties kibirkštėlė turi realų pagrindą tapti didesne liepsna, deja, draudimas paramą tik mažina. Todėl Meilitai ir vėl reikia mūsų pagalbos… Pirmiausiai, kad galėtų toliau tęsti terapiją, reikia pagalbos apmokant Next step terapijas. Draudimas moka tik už dvi valandas savaitėje, o mergaitei reikia mažiausiai 6 valandų per savaitę.Vienos dienos PT ir OT kainuoja po USD200, o tai jau USD400 už vieną dieną. Nors tėveliai iš paskutiniųjų stengiasi, šeimos lėšų nepakanka tęsti terapijas.

Taip pat name labai reikalingas liftas į antrą aukštą, kur yra mergaitės kambarys ir dušas, kuris būtinai nusileistų į garažą, kad nereiktų jos vežant į terapijas transportuoti per lauką. Kaip žinoma, gulinčio žmogaus imunitetas labai nusilpęs, ir jis gerokai greičiau peršąla. Specialaus Lifto tokiam ligoniui pritaikyto keltuvo (Savaria V-1504 vertical platform lift) draudimas taip pat neapmoka, siūlydamas praustis virtuvėje ir gyventi svetainėje, kur mergaitė dabar ir leidžia dienas.

Christmas is a most magical time when we gather around with joy, and with hope for our dreams to come true, that is why we would like to ask everyone to help us make a little miracle a reality. Help us see and feel the Spirit of the Holidays! We are asking all good-willed people to come together and help Meilita, who is struggling to get back her joy for life. Help us uplift her with the wonder of our Holiday Spirit!

A year ago, one family in our community went through a huge tragedy. Their daughter, Meilita, suffered a spinal stroke, a very rare disease, which is still being studied by medics who have no definite nor successful treatments identified as of today. However, this family did not give up. Meilita’s parents’ perseverance along with Meilita’s will and her drive to reach the recovery, have shown a positive progress in her healing. Mailita can stand with just a little leaning help by her side! A year ago, this family could only wish for Meilita being able to stand; a simple daily activity that we all might be taking for granted.. It seems that there is a spark of hope for the continuous improvement in Meilita’s path to recovery. However, recently, the family was informed that the insurance company is reducing their monetary support. That is why Meilita needs our help again.. First, she needs to continue her physical therapy, Next Step therapy, but with insurance covering only 2 hours of therapy per week, when Meilita needs at least 6 hours, it does not look promising. It costs USD200 for Physical Therapy and USD200 for Occupational Therapy for one day. While Meilita’s parents are doing everything that they can to cover the cost for these therapy sessions, there is just not enough funds to continue the minimum amount of therapy needed for Meilita. Second, in the house where this family lives, there is a need to install an elevator to the second floor to Meilita’s room and shower accommodation. This elevator would be situated in the garage, so that the family would not need to move Meilita outside of the house in order to get her into the car. As you may know, constant lying in bed weakens our immune systems and we become more prone to other illnesses, especially the colds in this case. The elevator/lift that was designed for the patients such as Meilita, Savaria V-1504 vertical platform lift, is not being provided by the insurance company. The insurance company is suggesting that the family should use the faucet in the kitchen and have Meilita’s bed in the living room, where she is spending her days currently.

So, we are asking for everyone in the community to help this family out by raising funds based on your capabilities; no amount is too small. Let’s make this little miracle happen! Let’s help Meilita and her mom, Indre Petrauskaite!
