Let's help Meg kick cancer's butt!!

I will start by sharing Meagan's story as told by Meg:

"My diagnosis story is neither unique nor remarkable. It started with a weakness in my left ankle, that led to some neurological testing, which revealed a spinal growth that ended up being two separate growths, totally unrelated to one another. The smaller T8 tumor was thankfully benign and removed completely during resection, but the one at my T11 was too embedded for more than a small biopsy.

It was discovered to be a fairly rare Diffuse Midline Glioma, a type of pediatric cancer found in the brains and brain stems of children. Although I’ve undergone surgery, oral chemo, and proton radiation therapy, my diagnosis is confirmed terminal. Even if I were to opt for additional chemotherapies or radiation treatments, the nature of this kind of tumor is not forgiving."

Shortly after finding out about her terminal diagnosis Meg was told about a clinical trial out in San Francisco that deals with her type of rare cancer. She was luckily accepted into the program. Only a few handful of people in the world have gone through this trial. Meg is hopeful that this clinical trial will give her more years if not decades of time on this Earth.

A few short days ago she was told that they need her out in San Francisco by January 27th and she will begin to undergo preparations for the clinical trial and then the process of her clinical trial will begin. Due to the short notice Meagan, her Mom, and Wheaton (her adorable French Bulldog) will be driving across the country in about 4 days to make it there in time. Meg's mom will be staying at a hotel nearby the hospital Meg will be at for the next 4 weeks during her trial.

Let me say this, MEAGAN WOULD KILL US IF SHE FOUND OUT WE WERE DOING THIS! But regardless she needs our help. The hotel stay for her mom is not cheap nor is driving across the country or meals along the way. We also don't know what other costs could occur while she is out there.

This is where you, my dear friends, come in. You may not know Meg, maybe you've known Meg for a long time, or maybe you went to high school with her. But I can tell you Meg is the sweetest, kindest person you'll ever meet. She is a type of person where she walks into a room and all the sudden the room feels lighter and happier. She is a walking ray of sunshine.  The fact that this has happened to her is heart breaking.

We are hoping to raise some funds to help alleviate some of the costs Meagan and her Mom will incur while out in San Francisco. I know the pandemic has hit people hard but any amount you can give helps our dear friend. Again, Meg would kill us if she found out we were doing this so we will try to keep this under the radar for as long as we can.
