Let's help Matt recover faster

Hi, this is my friend Matt. On June 10th, while taking water photography in a remote and dangerous surf spot in Indonesia, Matt was taken by an 8 ft plus wave breaking over a shallow and sharp coral reef. He was tumbled and dragged underwater when his face and head hit the coral reef at full force. His water housing instantly broke; he lost consciousness for seconds. He saw a light and an internal voice telling him: "stay awake, or you will die." He managed to walk across the reef and up towards the point with help from some surfers. He was later taken to the hospital on the neighbouring island, Bali. The injuries were severe and deep; he went to emergency surgery after having his head scanned. Fortunately there was no brain damage, and he will recover. Matt has been in Bali for two months and is at the end of his visa. He was lucky to have some local friends and some renowned surfers who took care of most of the hospital expenses. He is even more lucky to be alive. If you know Matt, you know how caring he is with his friends, yoga students, family and above all, how loving he is with kids. Matt is the best uncle in the world. When half of the world was locked down in a city apartment, Matt was locked down on some remote Thailand island. Seeing his pictures gave many hope and enthusiasm to follow our dreams and keep holding on. Every lifestyle has its challenges, and even though Matt spends most of the year in some remote paradise, he travels light and sustainably. And above all, on a low budget. He needs time to recover in a comfortable place without stressing about what the next move will be. And for that reason, we want to raise $15.000 to help him relax his mind and body and to recover as fast as possible. He will have hotel expenses, air tickets, fixing the damaged water housing from which he gets some of his income and some extra money to be able to cancel some work that he obviously will not be able to do before his health improves. Matt is as proud as he is generous and he did not want us to set this fund for him.
