I’m sorry to share that our friend and colleague Mariam Kamel has been detained by ICE following her asylum hearing on July 28, 2025. Her last recorded location is a New York detention facility, though transfers can happen quickly.

Mariam does not currently have legal representation. We are working to retain Jennifer Oltarsh of Oltarsh & Associates to protect her rights and help her continue pursuing asylum. She also recently had open‑heart surgery, so we want to ensure she has consistent access to appropriate medical care while detained.

Mariam is working towards her local one union card a hard worker and one of the sweetest people we know so if you can please help bring her home.
