Let’s help Maleah & Angus ‍

As friends of Maleah, we know what she has been through this year. She’s endured the devastating losses of her heart dog Chaka, her beautiful angel mother Debbie, the sudden death of her father, and most recently, her Grandpa. We can’t lose Angus!

Maleah came home Tuesday night after work and was greeted by all of her fur babies…minus one. Angus (her first cat) was nowhere to be found. She shook the treat bag, which this chubby man always sprints to; he still didn’t come. She found him hiding on top of the cabinet. She brought treats up to him, and he still refused to eat or come down. Later that evening, Maleah waited for him to get in bed as they do every night. He swiftly ran under the bed to hide…also totally unlike him. Something was wrong! His little brother Archie went under there to snuggle and console him so he wasn’t alone through the night :(

The next morning she made the earliest vet appointment they had, but ended up driving 100 mph and burst through the doors begging for help as Angus started wailing and gasping for air shortly after that call. They got him on oxygen and did some testing only to find out he had fluid in his abdomen, low blood count, and needed a $5,000 blood transfusion to save his life. She was afraid he was going to die. The next predicament was that Maleah had to transfer him to an ER vet without him dying on the way due to respiratory distress.

They made it, and she decided to move forward with the pricey blood transfusion as we know her heart cannot endure another loss. It’s not just a cat, he’s her best friend that stuck by her through cross-country moves and the hardest moments of her life. While the blood transfusion will hopefully help him live, I don’t want her to feel buried in vet bills and stress in the aftermath.

She has spent so much money moving and paying rent solo in San Diego. She’s had to buy flights to and from KY during the passing of both her parents. She has a massive vet bill from Chaka’s care before she passed. It honestly just sucks. Maleah is the hardest worker I’ve ever met and has been working extra to cover these expenses. She’s done this, and continues to do this without ever complaining or asking for help.

Like many, I’ve sat here wishing I could hug her and take her pain away. We can’t mend her broken heart, but we CAN help alleviate this cost.

Anything helps, I promise. I know she will be so SO grateful (maybe a little mad that we asked for assistance), but she will definitely cry tears of relief. WE LOVE YOU MALEAH.
