In just a matter of days, Lynton’s life — and the lives of his family — have been turned completely upside down.

Lynton is only 16 years old. Just days ago he was living a normal teenage life — spending time with friends, focusing on school, and looking ahead to the future. Then he suddenly collapsed at home and has since been diagnosed with a serious illness.

In an instant, everything has changed for him.

Instead of being at home with his family and friends, Lynton now faces months of hospital treatment ahead of him. He urgently needs specialist care in Edinburgh, and his family have been told they will need to stay there for at least six months while he receives the treatment he needs.

For his parents, Coleen and Dode, the emotional strain of seeing their son so unwell is unimaginable. Both are self-employed, which means being away from home for such a long period also brings the very real financial pressure of having little or no income during this time. Alongside this, they will need to travel regularly between Dundee and Edinburgh to be by Lynton’s side throughout his treatment.

No 16-year-old should have to face something like this, and no family should have to worry about finances while their child is fighting to get better.
