We’re making this GoFundMe today for little Leon and his parents - our brother Chris and his wife Shannon in hopes of lightening their financial burdens during this difficult time.


Last Tuesday life was normal, life was good. Wednesday morning their world came crashing down. Little Leon woke with a fever and was falling asleep watching his morning cartoons, which is very unlike him as he’s usually a happy chipper boy in the morning. So the decision was made to keep him home from daycare that day. When mom got off work that afternoon Leon was still running a fairly high fever so she called 811 and was advised to take Leon to ER. Upon their arrival a blood sample was taken and it was discovered that he had ZERO white blood cells in his body. An ambulance was called in and they got rushed from Ponoka to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton. More blood was taken, more tests were done and that’s when they found Streptococcus in Leon’s bloodstream. From here on in the bad only got worse. By that night Leon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Since then he has been given platelets, undergone 3 blood transfusions, had bone marrow biopsies, surgery to insert an IVAD, spinal taps and has started his chemo treatments. We are only a week in.


As you can imagine life has turned completely upside down in an instant for their family. Chris & Shannon had their first and only child (Leon), they just got married last year and they recently sold their houses and purchased their first one together. Moving dates are set for the end of this month (May 2021). Now, they are living in Edmonton going between the Stollery and the Ronald McDonald house. They are travelling back and forth from Ponoka to Edmonton for now until the foreseeable future. Medical expenses, travel expenses, food, taking time off work to be by their son’s side, moving into a new house with all of this going on...it’s adding up for them. Fast. Everything is uncertain in these times and so we reach out for help. Not just to help cover these hefty expenses but because their son is barely two years old and right now he’s fighting for his life. Any help is a lot of help.
