Our help is needed again everyone. Please read and if you can, donate as much or as little as you can. It is greatly appreciated and every penny and pound counts. This story is very sad and can happen to any one of us, at any time.
Our friend and fellow Cabby Lee Preston is suffering unbearable hardship and pain.
In January this year, Lee was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. After collapsing twice (once at the wheel), Lee was rushed into hospital and was given the devastating news. Lee’s father sadly died from the same thing and now Lee has been told that there is a chance that he will only live for the next 14 - 16 months.
Lee has been a London Taxi driver for the last 18 years and is now too weak to carry on driving. He is only 46 years old and has 2 lovely daughters who are 14 & 16 years old. They, obviously, are trying hard to understand what has happened to their dad and are struggling to come to terms with this. Lee has a long-term partner, Stella, who also is finding the news that the man she loves may no longer be with her for much longer.
Lee has already undertaken months of chemotherapy and is awaiting another course at the Royal Marsden. We, as a trade, have ALWAYS helped others. It is and always has been, a massive part of what we do. Please, I ask you to donate whatever you can to Lee and his family during this very difficult time in their lives. After 18 years of being a cabby, Lee now only has disability benefits as his income. It is almost certain he will never work again and if we can help, in any small way we can, I know Lee would be grateful. I have spoken to him and it truly is heartbreaking to hear his voice.
