Let's Help Kick Cancer's A$$ With David Hedstrom

David's fight with cancer began in November 2022 after being diagnosed with testicular cancer (specifically non-seminomatous germ cell cancer). He had surgery in late December to remove multiple tumors that were approximately 7". His oncologist recommended regular monitoring but no additional treatment at that time. His labs were clear up until mid-August when they discovered highly enlarged sections of lymphatic tissue, large tumors in his lungs, one larger inguinal tumor, and numerous small tumors throughout his thorax. He was scheduled to meet with his oncologist the week of labor day. Instead, he was rushed to the ER in Fremont, the Friday before Labor Day, due to very alarming neurological symptoms. At the ER, they found many cancerous brain lesions. They were able to stabilize him and transfer him to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Additional testing confirmed he had approximately 40 brain lesions in different areas of his brain. After consulting his oncologist, radiologist, and an expert in the field of testicular cancer, a treatment plan was formed to start a cocktail of 3 types of chemotherapy. He began treatment on Labor Day and will continue for approximately 3 months possibly followed by radiation and an assortment of different surgeries.

This is going to be the most exhausting physical, mental, and emotional journey for David, Cassie, Liam (12), and Henrik (8). They appreciate all your love, care, prayer, and support.

Our biggest goal for this fundraiser is to raise enough money to be able to purchase non-western medicines, daily living essentials, transportation expenses to and from treatment, medical expenses, day to day family expenses and comfort items for David.
