Lets Help Kevin Folden on his Rehabilitation
Donation protected
On January 29th, Kevin Folden was rushed to the hospital by ambulance with difficulty breathing. He had tested positive for Covid on January 20th. After a year of being careful and following all the safety protocols, Covid found its way into our family. What started off as just needing supplemental oxygen and few days hospital stay - quickly turned into the need to be placed on a ventilator. The Doctor's solemn voice on the phone to his wife saying "he's doing the best he can but his body is just too tired and being placed on a ventilator is inevitable." Words cannot describe the fear and despair that the family experienced being less than an hour away from their loved one being placed on a ventilator. Immediate family members were allowed to rush down and see him only through the glass of his hospital room before being prepped for the ventilator. As his parents, brothers, wife and son looked at him with encouraging eyes to show him love and support, they fought back tears. His wife Jennifer held up a sign that simply said "FIGHT HARD. We need you" Kevin nodded his head with determination. And that is exactly what he did for the following 12 weeks. On 7 occasions we did not know if Kevin would make it - but with the Grace of God, Kevin's fighting spirit and the most amazing medical team at MUSC - he is now preparing to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta Georgia. When Kevin was able to communicate he nodded his head again with determination when the Doctor asked if he was ready to start Physical therapy. This man is ready to be out of this bed and back into his life. This 47 year old devoted Father, Husband, Brother, Son, Uncle, coworker and friend to many has overcome so many obstacles and has shown all of us that miracles do happen. This family has been blessed with prayers and support along the way from so many. So many have taken this journey with us and we will be forever grateful. Jennifer has done the very best she could working , being at the hospital everyday, running the household, being strong for the kids, being there for her mother who started Chemotherapy while Kevin was in the ICU. She has shown true , unrelenting strength. This entire family has been through many struggles and sleepless nights over the past few months but remain focused only on the blessings that have been received. Anyone who knows and love Jennifer and Kevin know that they are the VERY last people to ever have their hand out to take anything from anyone. They are the ones who want to be the first in line to give. With weeks of missed work for both of them and the cost of transport to the rehabilitation center along with the 4 month hospital stay, brings a tremendous financial burden. Lets lift this family up with love and support while Kevin starts his journey to rehabilitation.
