Amplify Kentro Mason’s voice and all LGBTQ people’s right to freedom and safety.
Kentro Mason is an absolute joy to be around. In addition to always being happy and spreading love to everyone he knows - from his students at School of Rock to his audiences who get to hear his insanely talented singing - he is a unicorn who believes wholeheartedly in inclusivity and kindness.
Kentro’s zest for life was robbed from him on the night of May 15th when he was brutally attacked by a man at a local New Orleans bar. This man was part of a group of men who had been staring at and talking about Kentro throughout the night. When Kentro accidentally bumped into the man and politely said, “excuse me,” the man said, “Do you want to die tonight?” and knocked him unconscious.
Kentro is now hospitalized with a broken jaw and a possible concussion. His plans to sing with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and perform in Houston this week were taken away by this hateful act of a stranger who targeted him for being a member of the LGBTQ community. At this point, it’s unclear when Kentro will be able to return to work.
By choosing to support our campaign, you will help us send a clear message that the whole LGBTQ and New Orleans community is outraged by this heinous act. We want to help Kentro pay his medical bills, rent, food expenses and lost wages that have resulted from this tragedy.
