Help Katie with her medical bills
Donation protected
Hi friends,
As most of you know, my sister Katie has been dealing with a very serious infection in many of her organs for quite some time now. She has been out of work for two months, and has spent almost an entire month in the hospital. The initial infection was discovered while she and Zach were on vacation in Portugal in May. The issue was very complicated and is still not fully resolved, even after her recent surgery. See below for the full timeline and details.
As you can imagine, she doesn’t have any idea what kind of medical bills she will be facing after all of this is over. Katie doesn’t like the idea of asking friends and family for money, so I am asking for her. If you are able to help in any way, we would all be so grateful! If you can’t donate, please still send her all the love you can spare. Thank you all so much <3
Katies Health Timeline:
May 20 (Katie’s birthday): on vacation in Portugal, Katie began experiencing debilitating pain in her abdominal region, resulting in her having to be rushed to the ER. Tests showed a major infection that had spread to almost all of her internal organs. After a week of IV antibiotics, extra motel fees, and changed flights, she was stable enough to fly home.
June 8: Kate woke up again with severe abdominal pain that required her to go back to the hospital here in Philly. After a number of tests, it was decided that the best path forward would be surgery to remove Katie’s infected fallopian tubes and clean out the rest of the infection.
June 12: Katie went in for laparoscopic surgery. During surgery the doctors discovered that the infection had essentially “glued” a number of her gynecological organs to her intestine. This seemed to be the main source of her pain. The doctors pealed apart the adhesions, cleaned off the infection and safely removed her fallopian tubes. Given the severity of the situation, the surgery went as well as we could have hoped for.
June 21: Katie was discharged from the hospital and has been recovering with mom at her condo.
We are still waiting on results from follow up tests and have no idea how much more time she will need for a full recovery.
We are so grateful for you all in this difficult time. ❤️
