Kamilah Bautista is a long-time friend of our family and we are asking for support on her behalf.

Kamilah needs assistance to receive medical treatment, pay expenses, safe delivery of her baby and aftercare.

Last summer, Kamilah was diagnosed with multiple auto-immune conditions including: Lupus SLE (July), Shogren’s disease (September), and Vasculitis (November) which subsequently caused temporary facial paralysis, seizures, limited mobility, extreme pain and poor kidney function. She is also currently hospitalized with Transverse Myelitis and Churg-Strauss syndrome. These conditions cause a combination of severe inflammation and neurological damage affecting the spinal cord and blood flow to major organs. As a result of spinal nerve damage, she is unable to walk without assistance or perform much of her self-care.

The symptoms and complications of all of her auto-immune diseases as well as discovering she was pregnant, and high-risk, rendered her disabled. She previously worked as a healthcare enrollment advisor but was unable to collect any disability benefits at the time. Her fiancé lost his job while trying to care for her and their 2-year-old child. Medical and personal expenses have continued to pile up.

It has been determined that Kamilah’s unborn baby has VSD, which means there is a hole in the heart and will require surgery immediately after birth. In addition to this, the chemotherapy and other treatments that Kamilah requires may cause the baby’s immune system to be very weak after birth, requiring care in the neonatal intensive care unit. She and the baby will also need assistance once they are discharged from the hospital. She is due on 5/31/23.

in 2015, Kamilah was a champion and one of the main care providers for her older brother who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. She was by his side as a sister and companion for treatments, activities and a source of comfort. During this time, at the age of 17, she even quietly obtained a job to help pay for many of his meals, supportive activities and other needs until his untimely passing in 2020. Sadly her brother succumbed to the cancerous disease. She has since organized a cancer walk near her hometown in Menifee, CA at Santa Rosa Academy.

Kamilah is a young woman facing long-term chronic diseases and treatment. She sincerely deserves to receive care that would keep her healthy enough to deliver her baby with as few complications as possible. She is still in need of most essentials for the new baby and help with caring for her toddler. Kamilah is the kind of person who does unto others as she would want to have done for herself but would never ask so we are doing so for her. We are starting with a goal of $20,000.00.
