If you know my Mom, you know she is the first to help anyone. Well, the time has come for her to be the one who needs help.

In February, she started to experience odd numbness in her arms and hands and pain in her lower back and legs. That started what has now become a very long journey in figuring out what is going on!

Between February and August, my Mom saw every specialist recommended to her and had many scans and MRIs done. She has compression and stenosis of the spine but it has been mentioned that there may be suspected seronegative NMO. Our plan in August was to get her to the Mayo clinic but that was quickly changed when she went to the ER and went into Septic Shock.

In August, she started to have fevers; by the time they knew it was sepsis, her body had begun to shut down. She was intubated, on dialysis and pressers for over 10 days and we weren't sure if she would make it. The last hope was to open her up and remove her colon as a way to possibly see if that would revive her body and kickstart her other organs to begin functioning. The trauma surgeon discovered that her whole colon was dead and part of her small intestine. We waited 2 days to see if it worked and if she would be able to live.

Miraculously her kidneys started to work, she came off the ventilator and pressers and got out of the ICU. Her mind is intact and we are incredibly thankful that she is alive!

Since then it's been a long road. She has been at Madonna in rehabilitation but has been set back again by an infection in her spine that is causing severe pain. She has trouble sitting up because of the pain and needs to be in her bed most of the time.

We are hopeful but know it is a long road ahead! We want answers for her pain long-term and are fighting to get her strong again so she can go home and enjoy her beautiful grandkids.

It has taken us all a few months to be able to wrap our heads around all that has happened in less than a year. My Mom went from working out daily and being active with her life and grandkids to being bedridden.

If you know my Mom, you know this is not how she would want to live! She also would never want to be a burden or ask for help - SO I am asking for her. For her and my Dad!

The bills are just starting to roll in and they were not expected. We also know to continue to fight we will need funds to get her to where she needs to go!

Please send all of the prayers and good vibes our way and help in whatever way you can!
