In April 2012 just 3 months after our Mom passed away, my Brother John was diagnosed with Stage 2 Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He went through chemotherapy like a rock star.   5 years later, in 2017, he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. John was hospitalized then stayed at a rehabilitation facility for almost 6 weeks. Throughout the years he was also diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease as well as Bladder Disease.  For a wonderful, kind and loving young man, at age 49, the last thing he should be doing is spending 3-4 days a week at the doctors office, but he does, especially now. In August 2019 a CT scan revealed a 7 cm tumor in his abdomen and with further testing the diagnosis was not one we wanted to hear, Stage 4 Follicular Lymphoma and so it continues for him. Chemotherapy every 4 weeks and once again he handles that like a rock star. Then on December 20, 2019 he was in the emergency room with yet another diagnosis, Stage 3 Cholecystitis (gall bladder disease). Due to his chemotherapy and congestive heart failure they were afraid to do surgery because of the high risks involved. They acted quickly to not allow for sepsis or we would have lost him. They placed a drain in the gallbladder to allow time for the team of doctors to discuss the proper way to handle this safely. He was released on Christmas day with an uncertainty what was next except being unable to work and have visits with all the doctors almost daily. A plan is getting into place now that his last chemotherapy is behind him and the cardiac team is preparing a battery of tests to be sure his heart can handle the anesthesia for the surgery. So we wait.....John has been out of work since Dec 20. 2019 and is unable to return to work until he has surgery and is fully recovered... He has never been married and has no children but my daughters and I are his world as he is ours so it goes without saying we are in this together. We both have exhausted our savings to keep up his apartment, utilities, car insurance, groceries, medications, co-pays, etc. to date... Short term disability is not yet fully authorized and will only be 60% of his base pay.  I humbly reach out on my brothers behalf to make the financial burden for the next few months a little less so he can concentrate only on continuing to fight all these battles he is constantly being presented with.   Thank you for your support !
