Lets help Joël with his recovery.

On May 30th, our friend, Joël Fafard suffered a debilitating stroke which has paralyzed the left side of his body. In keeping with the tenacity it takes to become a professional musician, Joël’s spirits and drive to recover are formidable. Joël has a long road of recovery ahead of him but we are confident he has the mental fortitude to progress forward and thrive. Joël was given the green light last week to go into the physiotherapy clinic 2-3x/ day where he is increasing his time and intensity on the bike. The hardest part was to convince Joël that rest was as important as all his hard work in physio. This man’s determination is inspirational.

Unfortunately, Joël’s insurance will not cover any additional rehabilitation expenses, his loss of wages or family living expenses. Megan has been by his side constantly helping the amazing hospital staff care for Joël and keep his spirits high. Joël is still on the Sunshine Coast in the Sechelt Hospital but he just found out that he is headed into Vancouver to be admitted into GF Strong very soon.

Joël and Megan will need to be living in Vancouver for the next 2-3 months but discharge may happen with short notice so we need to start the needed home improvements to allow Joël to sleep and bathe on the ground level at home.

In the early stages of stroke recovery there are many advanced treatments and modalities which can speed up recovery which are not covered by BC Medical. Of course, all these modalities are expensive.
