In the blink of an eye things can change life as we know it… During Thanksgiving dinner 2023 Jesse and Tara sat down surrounded by family at the dinner table. Jesse took his first bite of turkey and what happened next left everyone frantically worried. Jesse removed himself from the table as he began struggling to breath. Dry heaving to try and un-lodge the turkey, Jesse was covered in sweat. Paramedics were called and they couldn’t figure out what had happened and why Jesse was sweating so badly. Things progressively began to get worse as time went on. Rushed to an emergency facility, testing revealed his esophagus had exploded and his body was going into shock as stomach bile and bacteria had been leaking into his blood stream. His body was dealing with even more trauma as bacteria was causing sepsis. In excruciating pain Jesse was rushed to another hospital equipped with a specialized surgical team. Two surgeons had worked several hours to repair things and stop the bacteria from spreading any further. Jesse was placed in a medical induced coma. As he lay in the hospital, Tara and family kept awaiting news from his doctors. Tests revealed Jesse’s esophagus had exploded from coughing to remove the turkey. Doctors believe his esophagus had been weakened due to inflammation and irritation as Jesse had been consuming foods, he unknowingly is allergic too. It's taken multiple surgeries to repair the damage done. It has been a long scary, emotional, and difficult road for Jesse and the family. As of today, Jesse has had 5 surgeries. Repairing the esophagus and preventing leaking has been challenging. Placed on feeding tubes and unable to lay down rest hasn’t been easy. Spending 30 days in the hospital, Tara slept by his side, documenting conversation with doctors and looking over his care. Jesse was finally released to go home Christmas eve. He is still on the road to recovery. Both Jesse and Tara have missed work without pay. Despite the progress Jesse remains unable to work leaving him and Tara grappling with mounting medical bills and financial strain. We’re continuing to pray and believe God for healing and full restoration of Jesse’s health. Amidst the physical and emotional toll, the family has initiated this GoFundMe campaign to rally support for Jesse and Tara. The funds raised will help alleviate the financial stress burden caused by the loss of income and substantial medical expenses incurred during Jesses treatment. Your contribution will make a meaningful difference in supporting them on the path to recovery, providing comfort and assistance during this unexpected and challenging chapter in their lives.
