Hi,
This is a fundraiser for Jacqueline Thanh, a resident of New Orleans. I am Daniel Kennedy, a peer of Jacqueline in the DSW program at USC. All funds raised through this page will be given to Jacqueline.
This fundraiser is being organized by myself and Melissa Min who are part of cohort 15 (C15) DSW@USC, and we are inviting you to rally around our fellow C15 student Jacqueline Thanh. She serves marginalized populations in New Orleans. She evacuated wither her husband and two dogs as Hurricane Ida came bulldozing through New Orleans, doing untold destruction.
Jacqueline has not asked for any help. She, like many of you, lives to help others. And people who help others seem to never ask for help. All we know is that they are somewhere in Georgia as they could find no place to stay in Alabama. They are one family of more than 300,000 people who were evacuated, and they had to spend their first night sleeping in the car with their two dogs because there was no place to stay. We understand they finally secured a place for two nights, but those two nights have passed, and we believe they have to look for housing options daily.
Jacqueline doesn't know yet if she has a home to return to. We will keep you updated as we learn more. We know that she is taking what she has to help older adults when she needs the limited funds to meet her own basic needs. That is the heart of a social worker in action. As she gets her footing, she will be a leader in helping rebuild the community and be a voice for the marginalized who have been devastated once again.
No donation is too small, and really, no donation would be too large. Would you please do whatever you can to help Jacqueline as she helps others? Because of the devastation, it is unclear if she will continue the DSW program this semester. Let's send her a ton of support and help her to Fight On!
Many people will be sending donations to organizations that are supposed to help people in New Orleans. This is an opportunity to send help and KNOW that it is getting to people that need the help. So, please share this GoFundMe page on your social media or with anyone who says they want to help people in New Orleans. Can we raise $10K together? We think we can. We are Trojans!d
