IAN'S ROAD TO RECOVERY.

Hi, my name is Roel, and I have started this GoFundMe page for my brother who requires prosthetics following the amputation of his feet mid-calf and all 10 digits on his hands. This is being done in collaboration with his wife, advocate and pillar of strength and support, Quincie.

In September 2023, Ian Chang, husband, and father, suffered a life-altering medical emergency which landed him in the Intensive Care Unit of the Peterborough Regional Hospital, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Ian who became Septic and experienced the onset of cascading organ failure spent close to three weeks on life support. The medical team advised that an area of concern was the discolouration of his nose, fingers, and legs which suggested that these areas were not receiving any blood which could lead to gangrene and may require amputation.

As a result of prayer, Ian’s resilience and will to live along with the tremendous efforts of his medical team Ian made miraculous progress and after 4 weeks in ICU, Ian was stable enough to be transferred to a surgical ward. We are now entering the 7th week in hospital and septic shock resulted in severe damage to Ian’s fingers and legs and the very hard and devasting decision was made to amputate affected areas.

THERE IS LIFE AFTER AMPUTATIONS! Working with the medical team Ian will be fitted for prosthetic limbs and undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process. We need your help! Help us get Ian back on his feet and begin the long road to recovery.
