Dear family and friends,

 

We are reaching out to let you know that we are spearheading a campaign to help our friend Vesta Clinton in her time of need. Many of you are family or have decades-long friendships. Others met Vesta in India, and some came to know and love her from the many stories she shares about her years spent with Meher Baba's Mandali in India where she volunteered her time and nursing expertise.

 

 

 

In early August Vesta was diagnosed with cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. She immediately took control of her health, organizing a team of experts from the best treatment centers in the country. They have initiated a treatment protocol for the next 6 months, which includes radiation and chemotherapy. Treatment began November 10th. This will be followed by major surgery in 2022. Her medical team has assured Vesta this should get rid of the disease, and, she should fully recover.

 

Although Vesta has health insurance, even the best policy does not cover all of her medical expenses. Vesta is unable to sit due to intense pain, so she has had no income for the past 3+ months since she can’t drive and must lie flat. Because of this, she has had temporarily to close her appraisal business; it will remain closed during treatment. This is why we are asking for your help to cover her increased daily living expenses and medical costs.

 

We all love Vesta because of her fierce spirit and beaming personality. She devoted so much of her time in India, serving over five years in the Meher Free Dispensary alongside Dr. Goher Irani. When she returned to the States in 1980, she continued to volunteer to her community, helping to create safe housing for women and their children coming out of abusive situations. She worked with the homeless, creating transitional housing. She has also served as a member on the board of directors of many non-profit service organizations, including as the past president of a rape crisis center. And now our Vesta needs us to rally around her to ease the financial burden and resultant stress that she is facing over the next 6 months of treatment and recovery. We all want her to be able to continue the good fight, knowing her family and friends support her on this journey.

Christian Randolph Clinton

I am Vesta’s nephew, but she is more than an  aunt to me, she is a ‘Mother Figure’ in my life. She helped raise me and without her loving guidance, support, and discipline I would not be the person I am today. I grew up in a house of drug abuse and chaos. Seeing this, Vesta plucked me out from danger and helped to raise me. She gave me the spiritual guidance, strength, and wisdom to move forward past issues that were out of my control. Without her, I don’t think I’d have been able to push forward in life and obtain my BS and establish a career.

Because of Vesta, I learned that love is a joy as well as an obligation ~ relationships require work. Learning these character-building skills were invaluable. When I met my wife, Kamille, I was able to build a wonderful life with her based in the values of love and kindness my aunt instilled in me. What I am trying to say is that I owe my life to this lady, my ‘true mother.’

My prayer is to be blessed with many more years with Vesta so she can play with children Kamille and I will have. When they grow up, I know they will enjoy reading her book about her amazing life experiences and be inspired to live a life filled with kindness and love, too. These have been my aunt’s gift to me, and I want my children to continue this legacy of love and kindness to others. Thank you for your consideration in helping Vesta get through the next several months. I know a loving contribution from your heart will lead to her full recovery.

We have known Vesta for over 15 years and have always found her to be a very loving and giving person. She has repeatedly put others needs ahead of her own which we find an admirable trait of hers. She was there for her mom and helped her through difficult health issues up until she took her last breath. She stepped in to help raise her nephew, providing much needed emotional and financial support due to his family situation. We witnessed how this guided him to become an honorable man. Now Vesta needs all of our help to face the challenges of the next six months that lay ahead.

Along with all our prayers, we can offer her the financial help she needs in order to recover her well-being and live out a long and healthy life. We sense you also feel this way about our dear Vesta.
