If you know one thing about Emma, it’s that Emma loves baseball. When baseball season rolls around, you’ll find Emma in her happy place—behind home plate, ready to catch whatever comes her way. In the off-season, you’ll find her honing her skills to be even stronger when summer returns. She does this with a strength and passion that few understand.
This year, the universe threw us all a curveball that we couldn’t have seen coming: on January 14th, I was diagnosed with cancer. As I tried to prepare for the months of chemo and radiation ahead, I tried to stay positive by looking to the future. After all the treatments were over, I knew that there was something for us to look forward to—Emma was going to the BFA Nationals, the largest girls’ baseball tournament in the US, a unique opportunity to play the game she loves so much, surrounded by other girls who share her passion. That was always our plan. But now, with just over two months until the BFAs, that plan is unravelling due to the financial impact of spending these past few months having to take time away from work to focus on treatments and recovery.
Now if you know one thing about me, it’s that I don’t like to ask for help. But when it comes to making this happen for Emma, I have to ask, because it means so much to me to be able to do this for her. If you are able to assist in sending us to Nevada for the BFA Nationals, I will be eternally grateful. We are hoping to raise enough to cover our hotel, rental car, flights and meals for the duration of the tournament. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support. It means more than you know.
