Garrett & Trish Smith are lifelong Westchester residents whose lives have recently been devastated by immeasureable sudden, and unforseen tragedy. During the summer of 2020, without warning or notice, Trish Smith (who was otherwise totally healthy and free of any known medical problems or conditions) was diagnosed with brain cancer, which required immediate, intense, and very dangerous emergency brain surgery. The operation was performed in August 2020, during which she suffered a major stroke that left her immobile, unable to speak, and completely incapable of taking care of herself. She now requires full-time round the clock hospice/caregiving services, and her prognosis moving forward is not good. While Garrett continues to work to support his family through this most unfortunate tragedy, many of Trish's enormous medical bills, costs, and required 24 hour caregiving services are not covered on their insurance. Garrett shared with us that their daughter Analise and her husband Craig Christy have been a huge help, however, we all know that full tme caregiving can cost thousands of dollars. Garrett and Trish are 2 of the most beautiful, loving and generous souls one would ever hope to meet. Their hearts are HUGE and they have never failed to support anyone else in times of need, from community programs and charities to their fellow family and friends. They have never said "no" to any help or assistance they've ever been solicited for, sought out for, requested of, or been in a position to provide aid to. As we said, they are 2 of the most generous and giving people we have ever know in our 70 + years on this earth. Many of you know Garrett personally as he has been active in numerous community organizations, schools, Neighborhood Council, and Rotary to name a few, and you know him - he never says "no" to helping others. He would readily and immediately give you the "shirt right off his back" if needed. Well now (unfortunately) it's time to help them. We had to obtain his special permission to be able to compose and publish this Go Fund Me page on their behalf as his pride and humility would never otherwise allow it.
Please tap into your heart and reach into your pocket and provide any help you can. Garrett and Trish are most deserving of anything you can give, and extremely grateful for whatever you can do. We cannot think of a more worthy cause or better people to receive any help you can provide in this great time of tragedy and need in their lives.
Thank you so, so much!
