Bushfire recovery for Em & Deb
Donation protected
Our friends Emma, Deb and Maisie lost their home in the tragic bushfires that are burning in Australia.
We have set this page up for the family and friends of Emma Danby and Deb Delgrosso who have been asking how they can help :)
On New Years Eve, the community of Mallacoota (their hometown) were advised to evacuate to escape the out-of-control bushfires.
They were only able to grab the most important essentials - their dog Maisie, photo albums, a small pack of clothes, and their van - the rest of their lives’ possessions were consumed along with the house they were living in.
While Em and Deb feel more fortunate than many others they personally have been helping along the way, the magnitude of their loss is likely bigger than they anticipate.
After a 2nd evacuation from 'Boydtown' the community they initially sought refuge, and a 3rd evacuation from 'Eden' where they spent the 3rd night, Em and Deb then spent 10 days in a rented apartment in Merimbula, a coastal community approx 100km north of Mallacoota. While Deb has now returned to Eden to see out her work contract, Emma has returned to Melbourne to work in the bushfire crisis centre near Bairnsdale.
Only now do they have the opportunity to rest try to comprehend the scale and impact of their personal losses and how much money it will cost to replace even the most basic of life’s amenities (e.g. a bed, pillows, sheets and blankets, a table, something to sit on, etc).
The immense feeling of displacement is overwhelming.
If you would like to help Emma and Deb recover by contributing to this fund, please do so knowing and accepting that they are generous, kind and thoughtful humans who work for the greater good everyday. They therefore, may decide to use some of the money raised to help those in greater need, including animals.
We trust that they will use the money judiciously.
Thanks so much for being a supportive part of their international community.
