Our mum, the lifeline to our family, is in need of some extra help. Though she is not usually the one to ask, we as a family are asking for a lending hand by all our family and friends. Donna is the most loving, caring person we have ever met. She always goes above and beyond to be the best mother, wife and nanny she can be, and we truly LOVE AND ADORE THAT about her. Anyone who meets her would feel the same.
In October 2005 Donna was first diagnosed with breast cancer, though with many chemotherapy and radiation sessions, she fought hard and made it through to being cancer free, a massive relief we thought.
But then again on the 27th of November 2015, our world was crushed; Donna had attended her last post cancer appointment, when they had discovered that Donna had breast cancer for the second time. On the 18th of December 2015, just 6 days before Christmas Donna underwent a double mastectomy.
The surgery went for 10-12 hours, leading Donna to a 6-hour recovery time. Her stay at the hospital was not very pleasant and extremely hard. Donna’s bowels, lungs and kidneys collapsed and shut down. Donna ended up having 4 bags of blood transfusions, a tube down her throat, a catheter and an oxygen tube. Just to get her through the process of her recovery and to be fully recovered to then have more rounds of chemotherapy. To then make a recovery yet again.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, IT DID! On the 27th of February 2018 Donna's family were informed with the devastating news once again. Donna was diagnosed with CANCER AGAIN!
But this time it is different. Donna's initial breast cancer had spread outside the breasts. The spread was to the brain this time. Which now in turn is actually metastatic breast cancer. The spread is so aggressive that it had spread to her neck, lungs and brain.
Approximately 8:30 that night, Donna had emergency surgery to remove one of the tumours at the front her head. This tumour was the size of a golf ball, which caused inflammation. Inturn was putting pressure onto her brain, Causing Donna to have short-term memory loss, vagueness, persona
lity change, and changing the way she moves and communicates especially with the left side of her body.
On the 3rd of March, Donna was dismissed from hospital, but was on monitored care for 2 weeks. Once Donna had recovered from surgery she then began to start her intense chemotherapy rounds.
Donna has been prescribed multiple tablets that she now takes daily, to help her with the pain and swelling, and sleeping tablets just so she can get a few hours sleep!
On Thursday the 5th of July, Donna was admitted to hospital once again to have another major surgery to remove again a Tumour, which had, grew back at the front her head (the same spot they had removed it from on the 27th). Donna was dismissed on the 8th of July and is now back at home with her Family once again.
Donna will be continuing chemotherapy and will also begin radiation in the next couple of months to help ease the pain and symptoms of the cancer.
As you can read for yourself Donna by no means has been able to live her life worry or pain free and could really use your help. This would mean so much to us just to have our mum smile or hold a little extra hope in the mess of endless hospital appointments, surgery’s and medication. We just want to see a smile on our mums face and a way to help ease her pain.
Our family would also love to buy our Mum/Wife/Nanny/Daughter, a wig for her sons up coming wedding in October!! Every donation counts!
WE WILL BE ALL FOREVER GRATEFUL AND YOURDONATION WILL NOT GO UNNOTICED!!!
