Hi, I’m Naveen Wickremeratne, a PhD candidate in Economics, and a dear friend of Dilshani Kariyawasam. I’m reaching out today because I’m raising funds for her as she fights Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), one of the toughest forms of cancer out there.
Dilshani is not just a teacher, author, and former journalist—she’s a true inspiration. A few months ago, she was living in Shanghai, doing what she loves—teaching and consulting—and pouring her heart into her work. But life threw her a curveball when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 TNBC. It’s aggressive, and there was no time to waste, so doctors started her on chemotherapy immediately.
Dilshani’s family is back in Sri Lanka, and she’s been facing this battle all on her own in Shanghai, far from the support she’d normally have. The good news is she’s in excellent care at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, but the treatment costs are massive. We’re talking chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, radiation, and constant tests. It’s all necessary to give her a fighting chance, and it’s estimated that the total cost for the next 6-8 months will be around AUD $75,000.
That’s where we need your help. Every single donation,no matter how small, makes a huge difference. Dilshani has always given so much to others, and now it’s our turn to help her get through this.
If you can donate, we’d be forever grateful. If you can’t, sharing this page with others who might be able to help is just as powerful. Let’s get Dilshani the chance she deserves to fight this and come out stronger.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you.
