Let's help Destani beat Cancer for the second & FINAL time

Hello, my name is Heather and this GoFundMe is for my best friend, Destani Mize, who is currently battling Cancer for the second time in less than a year. She’s a mother to 4-year-old Kimber, wife to Clint of the past 8 years and a small business owner.

In August of 2023 a few weeks prior to Destani’s 34th birthday, after months of unresolved stomach pains, Destani finally went to the ER at Texas Health Harris in Fort Worth where Doctor’s informed her that she had a complete blockage in her colon due to a cancerous tumor and that the cancer had also spread to her liver. After surgery on her colon and liver plus many rounds of chemo, results came back stating her margins were clear.

We all took a sigh of relief for these amazing results thinking this ‘C-word’ was finally behind us … or so we thought.

In April 2024 after a body scan, we received another blow. Cancer was back in her liver – 4 months after liver surgery. Destani consulted with her Doctor for alternative options due to the chemo taking a major toll on her body. During these conversations, her Doctor stated Destani’s cancer has a genetic component to it and due to that she could not do monochronal antibodies. She would have to go back on chemo - but all chemo will do is buy time due to the genetic composition. Destani is considered incurable based off the treatments offered here in the US.

Destani has been referred to another Doctor who is based in California that preforms Intratumoral Immunotherapy, Dr. Jason R. Williams. The problem is that this treatment is not FDA approved and not allowed to be performed in the US. Destani will have to go to Dr. Williams sub-office in Mexico to have the treatment procedures. Since this is not allowed to be performed in the US, it is also not covered by their health insurance. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help with the incoming medical expenses. Estimated cost is $35,000.00 per treatment.

As of this moment, Destani’s medical records have been submitted to The Williams Cancer Institute. Destani and her husband, Clint, are planning to fly to his Cabo office as soon as her records have been reviewed and the Doctors schedule has an opening.
