Hi! I'm Regina Phipps and I'm raising funds for my dear friend, Desiree Anton, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.
When I was 14, I met a girl with a radiant smile, an inability to withhold a hug, and a sarcastic wit that kept me laughing. Thirty years on and she's all these things plus a mom/bonus mom of 7, a wife, and the truest friend anyone could ask for. If you've ever met her, you know that she is one of the most generous and loving people, always willing to help anyone. Well, now she needs us, something she hates to admit but she told me "I don't want my family to struggle more than they already are."
As cancer does, this diagnosis came as a big surprise on top of already needing major surgery. Thankfully, they will be doing the full hysterectomy and the removal of her colon during the same procedure on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Desiree will have approximately 6 weeks of recovery after surgery during which time she will not be able to work or do much at all. Following surgery, it’s highly likely she will have an extended regimen of chemotherapy and would expect to miss some work during these treatments if they end up being needed.
I believe that those of us who know and love her, and anyone else called to donate, can give her the peace of knowing her family is taken care of while she fights this battle. Please donate to help alleviate the financial stressors caused by this significant health challenge. Any amount can help cover the costs of missed wages, medical bills and essentials for her and her family.
If you’re unable to donate monetarily, please gift Desiree and her family with your prayers and share this donation request with others. #PrayersAndShares
If Desiree finds that the donations exceed her needs, she will be donating any remaining amount to a 17-year-old girl in her area who is currently in her 2nd round of battling cancer, while having to travel extensively for treatments.
