Damon, our courageous Warrior, remains a beacon of strength as he battles cancer once more, currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatments.
His journey began at just 11 years old when he was diagnosed. Damon has continued to fight cancer on and off, but the community has rallied around him as his cancer has returned, now presenting challenges with spots in his lungs, spine, and rib.
Despite these hardships, Damon's unwavering passion for soccer shines brightly, serving as a source of inspiration for all who know him. His resilience and love for the sport remain unbroken, fueling his determination to overcome this latest obstacle.
Damon received an EXCITING invitation from an associate at Hanger Medical to attend the 'Adaptive Sports Field Day' at Dick's House of Sports last July, an event that embodies the spirit of inclusivity with its motto"Everybody Plays." During this event, he had the unique opportunity to watch the USA National Amputee Soccer Team in action and even participated in the game himself. The experience was exhilarating for Damon, who felt a strong connection to the team and was inspired by discussions about establishing a local league. He is confident in his ability to compete on such a team and contribute equally.
Following the event, Nico, the captain of the National Soccer Team, reached out to the Goga family with an invitation to attend the "Amp Cup '24" in Boston on October 12th and 13th, organized by the American Amputee Soccer Association. There is a promising possibility that Damon could play for the New England team, alongside opportunities to participate in various clinics.
The Goga family will need to consider expenses for a car rental, gas. accommodations, meals, and possibly the correct type of Athletic Forearm Crutches during this exciting event.
