Let's help Cory fight cancer
Donation protected
Cory Edgar, a 50-year-old non-smoker, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Adenocarcinoma in July. His cancer consists of one large continuous tumor which extends from the central portion of his esophagus, down to the base of the esophagus and into the upper portion of his stomach, as well as some lymph node involvement. He had been experiencing swallowing difficulty and while waiting for insurance approval of a CT scan, went into the emergency department because he could no longer ingest liquids. He had an 8-day stay in the hospital and was released after diagnosis and a failed attempt at opening his esophagus with a stent. He remains on a blended soft foods diet and requires expensive liquid protein supplements to sustain. He has lost a significant amount of weight leading up to and since diagnosis.
The outlook for esophageal cancers of this nature is not promising but we remain very positive and hopeful that he will beat the odds. Last week, Cory began a treatment plan of radiation monday-friday combined with chemotherapy once per week for a 5-6 week course to start. He will then be rescanned to see what happens next, with the goal of shrinking the tumor and eventually moving on to a surgical removal of a good portion of his esophagus.
Cory and his family need your help. 100% of the donations received will be put towards medical bills and related expenses that are already incurring. The hope is that we can make the mounting financial burden lessen so he can direct all of his energy towards fighting the cancer. Your donation can make that happen and is certainly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your support!!!!!!!!!
