I am asking for an open, generous heart. Here's why...

I'm on a mission to get my friend Corey another car. Months back his truck's transmission blew. He relied on kind strangers to help push it out of danger. Despite working full-time and many odd jobs, he still hasn't been able to save up for a replacement. He was really, really close...until this August.

Early August he lost his beloved mother to ovarian cancer. He was by her side as often as possible while she was receiving treatment and care--he didn't want her to be alone. Work sometimes had to come second because Mom was more important. Fortunately, he was with her when she passed on, watching as she took her last breath.

To ensure she had the ceremony she had always asked for, Corey and his siblings (all pictured below, Corey is on the left) pooled together their own resources to provide those special arrangements. She didn't have the funds herself.

Several days after his mom's passing, Corey's cousin in Texas got Covid-19. Within days he lost his life. He was only 42 years old. Corey was very close to him. In fact, this cousin often called to check in on Corey while he was supporting his mom during her battle against cancer.

If things couldn't go any worse this August, Corey's father had a severe stroke. Since, he has been helping his father rehabilitate from the profound effects of this major stroke.

Today, 8/21/21, I was at my mom's house and Corey was there helping with a variety of things. My mom had to pick him up, and he was able to arrange a ride home from his girlfriend. Something came up and she couldn't come get him. Corey said he was going to Uber home. Absolutely not! I drove him home, and it was on this drive that I learned about all of this.

I couldn't shake not doing something about it after hearing all he's gone though. Corey is kind, exceptionally hard-working, and will go out of his way for anyone in his life. This is why I want to do this same for him, together with your support!

His birthday is coming up on Sept 11, 2021. My ultimate goal is to have the vehicle by his birthday (if I can find the right one!). I have St. Louis friends who know cars well on the lookout for me.
