Let's Help Connie!
Donation protected
Hi! I am creating this fundraiser in order to give Connie some financial relief as she battles severe infections due to surgery complications.
In 2018 she fell in her kitchen and broke her femur. There were complications post-surgery, which led to severe infection in her leg. In 2020 she spent 60+ plus consecutive days in the hospital while healing from sepsis. She has had 17 surgeries on this leg since '18, and she is facing another series starting on Thursday, June 9th. At this point, the long-term plan is unclear as she is not currently well enough for an amputation, although that may be inevitable at some point.
Connie has proven time and time again that she's a fighter. She's always been hard-working, and growing up she taught us the value of perseverance. (She wouldn't let me quit soccer because I committed to it for a season when I was 5, even though I HATED IT ). Throughout this struggle, she has been a living example of what it means to persevere. Even though many of her days have been extremely difficult, she still manages to be kind to her nurses and find joy in the day-to-day.
Connie has the biggest heart. She always becomes the "work mom" at her job. She has always been a friend to all -no matter their color, class, sexual preference etc. She's a safe place for many.
How the money will be used:
She was granted disability, but that only covers the bare minimum. Her insurance won't cover many of the daily medical supplies that she needs to get by. Things like: gauze, ace bandages, medications etc. It would also be incredibly beneficial for her to see a manual lymphatic drainage specialist, which her insurance won't cover. She also needs a new wheelchair.
I will keep you all updated on how her surgeries are going. She is generally a pretty private person regarding her health struggles, but she's feeling more ready to share now.
Please consider donating any amount -even $1 helps! In the comments, share a happy memory you have with her, or give her some encouragement as she faces the next phase of surgeries.
Thank you to everyone!
