Let’s help Carolyn live pain free

Hello. My name is Jimmy and I’m starting this fundraiser for my wife of 22 years Carolyn Leckie. Now at 46 years old she’s been disabled & covid Took everything from her on September 10, 2020, she had to already quit her career and now has been unable to go forward in life due to Covid after effects called #longhaulers. She is still misdiagnosed with an unknown neurological / auto immune illness that has taken over the feeling of the nervous system, and since covid she’s in and out of the hospital and therapy rehabilitation centers for weeks each time and no visitors allowed. The doctors bills just keep adding up. she now requires full-time care with a wheelchair, walker, bedside toilet and a bench to take showers she’s also struggling with nutrition even though she’s on a feeding tube her body is rejecting that..

Her team of doctors at MUSC feel that it is necessary for Carolyn to be seen at the mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota. it is our understanding that they are focusing on autoimmune things with longhaulers at this specific location and her doctors would like our permission for them to send her files and a referral prior to us coming. They see how sick she is and it hurts them as much as it hurts us.

Carolyn has always been the true hard working mother of our two children and had always put her family and others first. Everyone is family to her and it’s her most important point in life. No matter who it is. Her mother died at her age with the same symptomatic issues and she’s worried that she is next. For the many that she had put first in her life have now placed her last in their life because it almost seems as she’s a burden. She’s not there for them anymore so she feels lonely and taken for granted for every thing she’s provided for the many others in her past. Psychologically this has been a lot for her to handle as well as the family.  She’s lost that beautiful smile and perfect set of teeth she once had due the lack of vitamins. Sounds strange I know, but we are still waiting for answers. Despite the sad lonely days living in a bed most of the time…, she hasn’t given up, even though she wants to. She does have prosthetic set of dental implants but they were only supposed to be temporary. We are still struggling to find the means for her bills even after emptying out our 401(k) and personal savings. we even went as far as selling our house for her health . I pray this works for her, this page can restore her smile while she is still struggling with so much more, finances should not be a stressor with everything else she’s dealing with.

Please let’s help her smile again and give her the love and support she deserves. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost her. She’s my best friend and we’ve been by each others side for so many obstacles over the course of 2 decades, we have not been sharing these ups and downs on social media because it has been so exhausting and we are very aware that multiple people have been affected by Covid. So please know even asking for this hurts my pride and I apologize for that ahead of time.

To make the trip to the mayo clinic where they believe they can extend her life versus letting this progressive disease take her too early, we would need to come up with the funds for airfare, hotel stays, and possibly a rental car. They said they will need her for 3 or 4 days and can  complete all the testing within that time. It is reassuring to know that there’s another option out there and that we might actually get some answers. Without going to the mayo clinic I fear the worst.

Thank you. Sincerely Jimmy Leckie
