Let’s Help Carolina Fight Cancer!

Hi my name is Andrea and I’m raising funds for my cousin Carolina. Her cancer is back and it has taken a hold of her lungs. She has to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to cover her treatment, medications and surgeries.

Carolina Osain is one of the strongest people I know. She is my cousin and lives in Lima, Peru. Since she was a little girl she has had medical issues, from kidney stones when she was very young to Guilliain-Barre syndrome in her early twenties. But, her biggest challenge has been to be diagnosed with a rare form of Thyroid cancer at 32 years old in 2017.

The treatment for her thyroid cancer involved surgery with the complete removal of her thyroid gland as well as her vocal cords and part of her trachea. Since then, Carolina adapted to life with a tracheostomy (a small hole in her neck through which she breaths). She learned, on her own, how to speak using her esophagus, she overcame Covid and most important of all, became a mom to her daughter Paula.

Now, her cancer is back and has taken a hold of her lungs. She also needs reconstructive surgery as her tracheostomy is closing due to the formation of scar tissue. Carolina is a fighter and needs help to be able to conquer these new challenges. Her surgeries and treatment in Lima will cost thousands of dollars out of pocket and she is unable to work.
