Hi everyone, my name is Alicia Lovelady Miller and I am one of the lucky ones to call “Candy” my best friend. I know there are lots of us over the years who have been blessed by Candace’s love and friendship. I know how much our sweet friend matters to her family, especially her sweet husband, Noe, and her son, Tristan. Candace is also so loved by daughters, her Dad, a sweet sister, and numerous extended family. Candace is now a LVN, having pursued this dream to be a nurse all the while fighting cancer! Candace has been working, but is currently unable to work because of pain and complications from cancer. In an effort to continue battling the tumors in her body, she has been awaiting the ability to start a chemo. Noe and Candace traveled to Houston to begin her chemo protocol approximately three weeks ago, and Candace was placed in the hospital at that time, due to weakness, pain, and GI concerns. The hope is for Candace to get strong enough to be able to start chemo. Candace has been unable to be discharged from MD Anderson at this time due to a challenges in stabilizing her pain and symptoms. Candace has had to undergo medical procedures because her ability to get nutrition has been impacted by GI issues. Secondary to these struggles, Noe has not left her side. Everyone has been so generous in the past, and we recognize that it’s the Christmas season, we ask that you prayerfully consider sharing the story or sharing any financial donation that is comfortable for your situation, as this hospitalization and ongoing treatment needs have limited Candace‘s ability to work and have limited Noe’s ability to work. Currently, Candace has shared the stress of worrying about finances while trying to battle this awful disease. Candace has a long history of being a helper. I can’t count the times she has been there for me. I know we all have stories of her listening ear and her love. And we are all so proud of her work with animal awareness and the love for not only her own pets, but nameless strays she has helped over the years. Candace continues to offer her love and support to others- even when her own cup can feel so drained. Candace is a fighter, a young mom who raised a son and built a life for her and him. Our sweet friend needs us all to rally and offer her the support she has offered so many others, both human and animal, in their time of need. As Candace continues to live with ovarian cancer- her fight, notably financial- is ongoing. Some history- Candace battled various health symptoms, chronic pain, and worry without getting answers for so long. After a hysterectomy on 2/17/2021, Candace received the news that no one hopes to ever hear, she has Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer (LGSOC). The doctor was able to remove much of the cancer, but some masses still remained in her abdominal cavity. This cancer is rare and often resistant to chemo. Candace is very humble and was hesitant to let me revive this “go fund me”, but I know we would all go out of our way to help our sweet friend and she and her family need us now. At this time, the hope is to leave the hospital and go home, regain strength and be able to return to MD Anderson to start chemo, and Candace has also been working with an integrative doctor and will be acquiring out-of-pocket costs for integrative medicine treatments. These both require out-of-pocket cost for hotels, gasoline, and treatments. Even though it took a lot for my sweet friend to let me create this

“go fund me” originally and to revive it now, I know at the end of the day, that she will be so grateful for any help that we can come together and offer. Candace will use these funds to pay for current medical costs and any upcoming out-of-pocket cost for her medical care. Having to continue to fight cancer is scary enough, having to fight cancer while trying to pay the bills is devastating. While we may be feeling helpless, one thing we can do is pray endlessly for our sweet friend and her family and help her out financially to help them get through this trying time.
